**Side note**
This picture has nothing to do with the post, I was just feeling the beat down Kim gave my face, and wanted to share a glimpse of my Super Bowl weekend in Houston with you all... Carry On
We all have those small nuances of our day to day lives that we really love. These pleasures are nice, however we do not consider them a major game changer if we do not get to experience them every day of the week. An example of this in my life is walking from my car to the building at my job. Although I have my own personal parking space, the parking lot is not paved. There are a plethora of rocks, and dirt for about a good 50 meters. It has been this way for the 4 years that I have worked there yet I still forget about 2-3 times a week to bring a pair of flats to walk the treacherous journey to the main building. Needless to say just walking into work with my heels puts me in a bad mood.
This is something that can be fixed just by keeping a pair of flats in my car and office to go back and forth with. It is a small task but the payoff is great. It literally will make my day a tad bit better. There are 100 small things like this, that we all experience on a day to day bases. Finding solutions to them will continue to increase our chances for a great day! I will be sharing 5 ways to make everyday, your best day ever.
Tip 1: Figure out what matters most to you
What matters most to me is to have a productive day. Every night I look over my planner to see what I had on my schedule for that day, and what I have coming up for the next day. Based off my notes I highlight things that have to get done, like: Bills that must be paid, meetings that I must prepare for, rescheduling of things that did not get done the day it was suppose to, etc. I usually base how productive I was off of all the tasks I completed. My goal is to get things done on the day they need to be done, and not drag yesterday's business to the next day. This keeps me moving forward, and more productive.
Tip 2: Find ways to alleviate annoyances
This is pretty self explanatory. Of the things that annoy you and aid to you having a bad day, avoid them like the plague. This may be a co-worker, family member, An ex, etc. whom ever it is give them as little time as possible to impact your day. Now, you can not run from these people everyday for the rest of your life. What you can do is avoid contact with them, until you are in a good space to deal with them and their Bull... I mean drama for that day.
Tip 3: Take a few moments during the day to reflect on your day
Apart of having a good day is realizing that you are having a good day so far. With my job I am usually juggling multiple clients and contracts at a time that I am not able to take a break without ripping myself away from work in the middle of it all(which I hate). All of a sudden 5 o'clock rolls around and I haven't even noticed, my mother sent me an encouraging text right after lunch, or my boyfriend told me he's taking care of dinner that night. Those are things that would have given me an extra boost to get through the rest of the day had I been able to step away from my work for 5mins and really regroup and reflect on my day.
Tip 4: Find Similarities Amongst your days
Getting on a schedule will really cut back on a lot of wasted time during your day as well as give you more time for the fun things you love to do. If you know you have a better day when you go to bed before 10pm, be sure to do everything before that time so that you can make it to bed early. For me, most days are 12 hour days between my 2 jobs, and Junior League meetings, so it helps for me to plan my wardrobe early in the week. When I do not do this, it shows! You can catch me having to do Make-up in my office, eat breakfast in the car, and at least 3 minutes late to our daily 8:15am stand up meeting(which is very embarrassing considering the other 8 sales managers make it there on time like clock work)
Tip 5: Be sure to reward yourself
Rewards should not be contingent on how well you did that day. If you had a productive day or not, it is important to reward yourself daily just for morale. This can be buying your favorite ice cream to eat while watching your favorite show from your DVR. Or something more lavish like scheduling a massage with your favorite massage therapist. You just want to make sure you have a reward waiting for you after a long day. I love a facial and a hot steamy bath in my garden tub to end my day. I literally fall asleep in there sometimes. Knowing I have made time for that at the end my day, keeps going.
Let me know some of your best days you've had lately, and ways you are able to have your best day more frequently!
